WHY DONATE?

We feel that this is a story worth telling because it has historical merit and value. Your contributions will help present this great story.  Because, as current headlines attest, the battles for civil rights and pay equality between men and women in America are far from over, we believe BLACK HAIR EMPIRE has valuable information to impart about the history of success in a minority community that has largely been overlooked and forgotten. We want to reach back into this historical chapter to bring it alive for the current generation with a high level of visual metaphor, poetic impact and artful reenactments.  Many of our storytellers are men and women from the black hair care industry, some now quite elderly, who have so much to share. We’re racing the clock to get their stories on videotape before we lose them. For example, one of our planned interviewees, Comer Cottrell, founder of Dallas based Pro-Line Corporation and the first black to become a significant equity stakeholder of a baseball team (The Texas Rangers), died in Oct, 2014

The producers of this project have worked with a sense of mission, dedicating countless hours toward researching and developing this story. Every dollar counts and we ask for your generous support so that this story can be used; not just as entertainment but also as a teaching tool that can be shared with television, film festivals, business organizations, beauty conferences, classrooms and future generations!
